SHREVEPORT, LA - Services for Neil Austin Franklin, 20, will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 20, 1999 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Louis Strain, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Spring Ridge Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, LA.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Neil died Sunday, May 16, 1999 as the result of an automobile accident. He was a native and lifelong resident of Shreveport, LA. Neil was a diesel mechanic and he attended Western Hills Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Louise Franklin and grandfather, George Gossett.
Survivors are his father, Gary Franklin and special friend, Cindy of Shreveport, LA; mother, Paulette Hillson and husband, Ivan of Houston, TX; paternal grandfather, D. F. (Frank) Franklin of Shreveport; maternal grandmother, Terry Gossett of New Orleans, LA; two brothers, Jeremy Franklin of Bossier City, LA and Justin Hillson of Houston, TX; aunts, Regina Pierce and husband, DeWayne, Penny Vaughn and Karen Peltier; uncle, Chuck Franklin; special friend, Carrie Smith; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Shackelford, Craig Shackelford, John Jenkins, Troy Nester, Rocky Sebren, Stacey Heable, Justin Vucinovich and Chris Schamerhorn.
Honorary pallbearers will be Claire Jenkins and Jeremy Sebren.
The family suggests memorials may be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital.
