Lieutenant Robert Walter Sterling
November 25, 1919 ~ June 10, 2020 (age 100)

World War II veteran, Robert Walter Sterling of Keystone Heights, Florida, passed away on June 10, 2020 at the age of 100. He was born in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio to Herbert Sterling and Hazel Shilling Sterling in 1919.

He proudly served our country as a member of the Air Force. After leaving the air force, he became an engineer and also taught Behavioral Sciences at Sante Fe College, in Gainesville, FL. He studied psychology and religion and could easily carry on a conversation about most topics. Bob loved to write, play golf, and do some gardening.

For the last 35 years, he and his wife Flora Sterling have been happily married. He is preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Sterling, and numerous family members and friends. Robert is survived by his wife, Flora, son Timothy Sterling, granddaughter Rebecca, nephew and niece, Mike and Becky Sterling. He will be missed by all who loved him.

An inurnment ceremony will take place Graveside Service, Friday, June 19, 2020, 11:30 AM, Jacksonville National Cemetery. Phillip & Wiley Mortuary Inc.
