Also surviving are five daughters, Tammy (Delbert) Atterberry of Topeka, Marty (Ron) Powell of Bartonville, Stacey Tiller of Green Valley, Lisa (Dave) Dosier of Forest City and Dana (Bryan) Taylor of Manchester, IA; one son, Michael (Patricia) Bearden, JR. of Pekin; twenty-nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Phillip Bearden of Pekin and two sisters, Elizabeth (Ron) Weins of Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Josephine (Doug) Sommers of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Virgetta Dawley; one grandson and one brother, Daniel G. Bearden and one infant sister.
He served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1961.
Michael worked as a computer programmer for Origin Internationals for 13 years retiring in 2001. He also was a yard master for Corn Products from 1963 to 1982 and worked as a photographer for the Pekin Times during the 1970's.
He was a master craftsman and loved working with wood making curio cabinets, clocks, tables and yard decorations. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was an amateur Ham radio operator and loved to fish, especially fly fishing.
He was a former member of First Baptist Church in Pekin.
His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Sand Ridge Community Church in rural Manito. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
