Judith Ann Murphy, 76, of Rock, died Monday, June 15, 2020. Mrs. Murphy was employed by Bluefield Supply while attending Bluefield State College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education. Later she obtained a master’s degree from Salem University, also in education. She taught for 34 years in Mercer County at Ramsey Elementary and Bluefield Intermediate School. She was a Sapphire Sister of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. She loved to read, travel, shop and spend time with family. She was an accomplished piano player and an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Born October 19, 1943 in Bluefield, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Bernis Basham (1905-1993) and Beulah Selma McKinney-Basham (1905-1969). She was preceded in death by siblings, Carnice "Ferlin" Basham (1931-2006) and Nadine Basham-Durham (1933-2015).

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Curtis Murphy of Rock; son, Brent Murphy & wife Jaclyn Murphy of Rock; brother, Shirl Basham; grandchildren, Matthew Murphy, Logan Murphy, and Ethan Murphy; and several cherished nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2020 at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Brent Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
