Born as Forsythe, but spelt it as 'Forsyth' at an early age. Forsyth is Scottish, but in the 1500's a group emigrated to Ireland to work on the English plantations and an 'e' was added due to the Irish brogue when pronouncing it.
On 13 June 1886 he arrived at Melbourne on the 'Sorata' as an Unassisted British Migrant and moved to the Horsham district in Western Victoria as a farm labourer.
Robert (a Presbyterian) married a Lutheran, Louisa Wilhelmina Prange on 29 July 1892 at Pimpinio and by 1903 they were living at Beaconsfield, Western Australia. Robert was a carrier and took up farming at Williams by 1916.
By 1925 he was back at East Fremantle, working as a carrier and in his latter working years as a labourer on the Fremantle wharves.
Robert died in 1951 and his death was recorded correctly as
Forsythe but buried as 'Forsyth'.
