Laura Louise Winkel passed away at her home in Yerington, NV on October 30, 2012. She was 94. Louise was born in Decatur, IL on December 28, 1917, the daughter of Loran and Bertha Ruth Midkiff Allen.
She had attended Carson City High School and the University of Nevada.
Louise married Russell Winkel on February 20, 1963, in Carson City, Nevada.
She enjoyed hunting, hiking and cats. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Order of Railroad Conductors & Brakemen.
Louise is survived by her husband, Russell of Yerington; her sons, Tom L. Dorf of Sun Valley, Nevada, and John H. Dorf of Gardnerville, Nevada; her brother, Walter Green of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister Virginia Bennett of Overton, Nevada; her grandchildren, Kurt Dorf of Houston, TX, Jerry Sternod of Reno, NV, Gail Byrne-Baber of Hawi, HI, Karen Martin of Truckee, CA, and Lisa Dorf of Los Angeles, CA; four great-granddaughters, three great-grandsons; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin brother, James E. Allen; her sister, Hope Cleveland; and sons Roger W. Dorf and James M. Dorf.
A Celebration of Life service is planned on June 22, 2013, at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home in Yerington, NV
