Christine Burks Broomfield Carson, age 98, of Malvern, died Tuesday, June 5, 2018. She was born in Sparkman, Arkansas on November 26, 1919 to the late Henry Burks and Viola Wesley Burks. Reared and educated in Dallas County, she had been a resident of Malvern since 1952.

Christine was the oldest living member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities: as youth director, Sunday School teacher, former president of the Missionary Society, the Arvesta Hale Circle, Baptist Training Union, and as committee person for the Southwest District Association. She also led a Girl Scout Troop for 25 years. Christine retired from Featherlite/Chamberlain Door after nearly 20 years with the company.

She was the widow of the late Earl Carson, to whom she was married in 1969. He preceded her in death on April 14, 1978.
She was also preceded in death by three daughters, Alice Viola Ingleton, Sadie Carter Vaughn, and Sharon Juliette Broomfield; four sisters, Corene Hughes, Maggie Johnson, Annie Cooper, and Mary Williams; two brothers, Horace and Harry Burks; two grandchildren, James Anthony Rogers and Glenn Edward Rogers; by daughter-in-law Mary Jo Broomfield, and son-in-law, Roy Luster;

Her survivors include: two sons, Louis Oliver Broomfield and James Marvin Broomfield, Sr. (Courtrina) of Malvern; three daughters, Annie Mearl Luster and Janice Marie Green (Ronald), both of Malvern, and Doris Jean Broomfield of Albuquerque;
19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-great-grandchildren.

A wake for the family and friends will be held at J. A. Funk Funeral Home on Friday evening June 15, 2018, from four until six o'clock.
The funeral will be at eleven o'clock Saturday morning, June 16th, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church on Banks Street with the Reverends Orlando Freeman and Thomas Nolen officiating.
Interment will follow in Perla Gate Cemetery under the direction of J. A. Funk Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are her grandsons: Jason Broomfield, Carlton McNeely, Christopher Broomfield, Rory Luster, Randy Jones, and James Broomfield, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers are her nephews: Michael Burks, Tim Burks, Troy Hughes, James Hughes, Donnie Ray Hughes, David Hughes, Patrick Hughes, Johnny Lee Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, Henry Cooksey, Andrew Hughes, Sammy Hughes, and Stephen Hughes.
Christine's nieces will serve as Flower Girls.
