Mrs. Helen Hawkins was a native of Tampa, Florida and was born on August 20, 1946 to the parentage of David and Lula Haywood. She was educated in the public schools of Hillsborough County, FL. Helen was a devoted employee of GTE for over 30 years as well as the Tampa Women’s Center. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of College Hill, Tampa, FL.
Mrs. Helen E. Hawkins was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hawkins; her mother and father David and Lula Haywood; her sister, Kay Haywood; her brothers, Paul and Kenneth Haywood all of Tampa.
Helen leaves to cherish memories of her with aunt, Faye Richardson of Fernandina Beach,FL; sisters, Mary Bivens, Bettye Schier & husband Robert; brothers, David Muhammad & wife Rasheed of Union Springs, AL, Jeremiah Haywood, John Haywood & wife Sharon, Ray Haywood & wife Jackie; devoted nieces & nephews, Keena Haywood, Terry Bristol, Chanell Pearson, Paul Durden, Lamar Cooper, Kimel Morgan, Keneysha Cowden & husband Brandon, Jackie Shaheed, Derrie Rushdan, Lonnie & Lawrence Wilson, John Haywood, Kaylin Haywood, Isaiah Haywood, Raiyonte Haywood, Jordan Haywood Rita Thomas, Karolyn Bivens, Valerie & Leroy Tramel, Robin & Kenneth Weary, Jennifer Bivens, Cathy Rhodes & husband, Polo, Johnathan Stroud. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 from 3:00 -8:00 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 N. 29th Street, Tampa, Florida. Due to the current CDC restrictions, we are asking that you use the visitation as an opportunity to pay your final respect. For your convenience and safety, we have extended our visitation hours.
