Danetta Lynn Whisnant, 66, of Brenham, Texas, died on June 14, 2020, in Brenham. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery of Gay Hill.

Danetta was born in Roseburg, Oregon, on September 15, 1953, to the late Lyndal Voyt and Lunetta Jovell Shoults Privett. She worked in the health care industry as a nurse. She married Dale Whisnant on June 10, 2000.

Being a grandma was her greatest joy in life. She loved RV trips with Dale to Florida every winter and Michigan every summer. She enjoyed traveling, going to car auctions with Dale, eating crab legs and playing the slot machines at the casinos.

Danetta had an amazing green thumb and could grow anything. She loved crafting things and restoring old furniture that she purchased for her home and family. She had the most generous heart and loved to spoil everyone she loved.

She was an amazing cook and loved to celebrate holidays with her family where she cooked for days in advance. She was such a beautiful lady, always perfectly proper with her hair, makeup, and nails perfectly polished. She was possibly the world’s greatest shopper and had a shoe collection that every woman would envy.

Most of all, she was a fighter and an inspiration to everyone. She never lost hope or her will to overcome. She was as tough and as generous as they come. She loved flowers.

Survivors include her husband, Dale Whisnant, of Brenham; son, Levi McElreath, of Brenham; daughters, Amye Angerstein and her husband, Chad, of McKinney, TX, and Nicole Sims and her husband, Jake, of Brenham; grandchildren: Kyle Sims, of Brenham, Austin Angerstein, Audrey Angerstein, and Carter Angerstein, all of McKinney; brothers: Sonny Privett and his wife, Karen, of Gainesville, TX, Lindy Privett and his wife, Shelley, of Allen, TX, Jody Privett and his wife, Debbie, of McKinney, and Tommy Privett, of Brenham; sisters, Mary Hargeshiemer, of Gainesville, TX, Christie Sewell and her husband, Chad, of Gainesville, TX, and Susan Meinz, of Burnett, TX; other relatives and many friends.
