Mrs. Valerie Davis, age 65, of Alton, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2020, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

There will be a private family graveside service on Saturday, June 20, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Alton. The Rev. Fr. Daniel Greving will officiate. There will be a visitation without the family on Friday, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Valerie Faith was born on November 11, 1955, in Oceanside, California, the daughter of Thomas W. and Dorothy Ann (Verdoorn) Even, Sr. When she was an infant, her family moved to Alton, where she was raised. She graduated from the Spalding Catholic School in 1974 and Briar Cliff College in 1978.

She was united in marriage to Bill Oren Davis, on May 5, 1990, in Storm Lake. They made their home in Alton, where she was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Val enjoyed watching soap operas and hockey, especially the Toronto Maple Leaves. She also loved spoiling her nieces and nephews, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband of more than thirty years, Bill; her siblings, Ricci Even, of Remsen; Randal “Chuck” Even, of Overland Park, Kansas; Rachael and Mike Santarsiero, of Alachua, Florida; Thomas Even, Jr., and his special friend, Roberta Scholz, of Tonasket, Washington; and Becki and Scott De Kock, of Orange City; Bill’s siblings; Mike and Sheila Driscoll, of Cascade; Tim and Wanda Davis, of Bristow; Ted and Brenda Davis, of St. Joseph, Missouri; Vic Davis, of Sioux Center; Paul and Janine Davis, of Storm Lake; Mike Davis, of California; and Mary Davis, of Bristow; and 39 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
