Born April 14, 1956 in Owenton, he was the son of the late Lawrence Ray and Kathleen Perkins Hawkins. Larry was a member of the El Bethel Christian Church and a lifelong farmer. He was a talented mechanic who will be remembered for being able to fix anything. He enjoyed working on mowers, tractors and older vehicles.

He married his wife, who survives, Ann Dyer Hawkins on May 28, 1981. Also surviving are his children, Arlene (Vincent) Yager of Owenton and Ricky Hawkins of Dayton, OH; two granddaughters, Kasey and Emily Yager and several nieces and nephews, including Kathleen Hawkins.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location, on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 from 11am until 1pm. Funeral services will follow at 1pm with Bro. David "Milkweed" Wotier presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Bluegrass Care Navigators Hospice or the Arthritis Foundation. This will be a pass-through visitation with social distancing and visitors are encouraged to wear masks.
