JOHN KING DIES
AFTER LONG ILLNESS
John Earl KIng, 76 pioneer resident of Marshall county, died Thursday at the home of his sister, Susie Bigham in Blue Rapids, after a n illness of nearly eight months.
He was born September 16, 1868, in Menomonie, Wis., and came to Kansas in 1885 settling in Beattie. He was married March 2, 1894 to Pearl Mann, and was the father of three children, one of whom died in childhood.
He is survived by a son, David King, Rosebud, Ore.; and a daughter, Ethel Love, Casper, Wyo.
Funeral services were held Sunda at Hill's Funeral home in Blue Rapids, and interment was made in Richaland Cemetery.

Additional Notes: John E. King and his wife Pearl Tessa Mann King Kief were first cousins and were married in Beatrice, Gage County, Nebraska on March 7, 1894 per marriage certificate and license. His mother Amanda Mann King was a sister to David Mann father of Pearl. Sometime between 1910 and 1920 John and Pearl divorced and she married Albert F. Kiev. Per the 1910 census John is listed as married, he and son David are together living in Burton Bend, NE. However, I have been unable to find the whereabouts of Pearl as she is not with Albert per the census. By 1918 Pearl is listed as the closest relative on a WWI document for Albert and the 1920 census lists John as divorced. Son David is still living with him on the 1920 census and they have moved back to Kansas.
