Nancy Kay (Mullen) McDonald, 68, passed away on June 12, 2020 surrounded by her family at home in Cheyenne, WY. She was born June 3, 1952 in Laramie, WY to John William Mullen and Estelle (Stella) Parsons Mullen.

Nancy married Dennis McDonald on August 12, 1976 and they were married for 42 years until Denny’s passing in January 2018. Nancy was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her family was her life and there was not anything she would not do for them. She had a passion for cooking large meals especially at the holidays. She often told all of us that she “Loved us to the moon and back”. After her husband and family, George Strait was her third greatest love.

Nancy ran an in-home daycare and worked as a waitress at Little Bear Inn while raising her family. She graduated from Laramie County Community College July 14, 1989 with a degree in Nursing. Nancy was a member of the Air National Guard from 1990 -1996 as a flight nurse with the 187th Aero-Evacuation Squadron. Nancy finished as a 2nd LT. She had a long, distinguished career as a Nurse working for F.E Warren AFB Pediatric Clinic, Cheyenne Women’s Clinic, Cheyenne OB/GYN, Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, TRIWEST (TRICARE) Healthcare Alliance, Continue Care Home Health and Family First Medical Office.

Nancy was recognized as an excellent patient care provider and a strong patient advocate. She also achieved top nursing recognition three years for “STAR” award at Cheyenne Regional Medical center. Recognized for the “Pride of Cheyenne” through the Chamber of Commerce from a patient submission and was the first employee of CRMC to receive this award.

Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis McDonald, of 42 years; her parents, John and Stella Mullen; her grandson, Carter Daniel; brothers, Gayland Kelsey and Steve Mullen; her sisters, Sharon Pharoah, Frankie Sperle and Carolyn Andrews.

Nancy is survived by her children Kim (Jack) of Cheyenne, WY; Kristin (Jeff) of Vail, AZ; Brad (Tiffany) of Laramie, WY; Steve (Kathy) of Cheyenne, WY; Shannon (Mike) of Buena Vista, CO; grandchildren Jack, Courtnay (Cody); Jordan (Evan); Laura; Shelby; Michael; Cody; Chayla; Justin; Alexis, Will, Wyatt. Great grandchildren: Emberlynn, Wyatt, Liam, Brooklyn, Logyn, Crystal, Sawyer, Colt. Dennis and Nancy had the pleasure of becoming Billet parents to Matt Broman and Joe Bellotti, two members of the inaugural Cheyenne Stampede Hockey Team, who quickly became forever part of the McDonald family.
