Jesse Maxwell, Jr. was born July 19, 1949 to the union of the late Rev. Jesse and Celia Sloan Maxwell,Sr. in Gadsden, AL.
Jesse accepted Christ at a young age and united with St. John C. M. E. Church. He graduated Carver High School, Class of 1968. He went on to attend Jacksonville University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in business and also had the opportunity to meet James Brown when he came to the university to perform live on stage.

Jesse united in the bonds of holy matrimony to his wife. This union gave fruit to two children. He and his wife fellowshipped with Handy Chapel A.M.E. Church, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Betty Robinson.

Jesse was a hard worker and was a dedicated employee. He worked for the Greater Gadsden Housing Authority for twenty-four years. He worked with his company and in his yard faithfully until the very last when he just couldn’t anymore. His strong resilience to keep moving will be forever cherished by those who loved him.

Jesse traded time for eternity on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Riverview Regional medical Center. His memories will be eternally embedded in the hearts of his beloved wife, children, grandsons, brother-in-law, brother-in-law, niece, great-niece, close friends, and a host of other relatives and friends.
