Walter Townsend Dies In Florida
Walter Townsend, 62, of Robinhood Ave., Painesvlle-on-th-Lake, who was a carpenter for the George Payne Co., died Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Sebring, Fla. Ill for several months, he had motored south recently for a rest.
A native of Stonefield, England Mr. Townsend came to Painesville 21 years ago. He was a member of Lake County Carpenters Union No. 404.
His wife, Margaret, preceded him in death Dec. 29, 1944. Surviving him are three daughters, Mrs. Emily Stokes, Mrs. Kathleen Garner and Miss Jessie Townsend; a son, George; a brother, Joseph; two grandchildren, Beth and David Townsend, all of Painesville. His mother, Mrs. Emily Townsend and a sister Mrs. Jessie Gleason, in Sebring, Fla.
It is expected that the body will arrive Thursday. Friends may call after 3 p.m. that day at the Nixon Funeral Home, where services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. Dr. Hugh Fouke, pastor of the Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
