Clara Dietrich Wunsch died several days after being in an automobile accident in West Seneca, NY. in May 1932. Buffalo News Papers describe the accident as follows: "Policemen Rescue Two From Burning Auto", "Occupants of car have narrow escape from burning to death after accident" " West Seneca policemen rescued two woman from an auto that took fire and was destroyed after a collision last night. The rescued were Miss Clara Wunsch 34 years old, Webster Road, Orchard Park, NY. and Miss Clara Witt, 509 Dodge St. Buffalo, NY.
Arthur Zimpfer of the West Seneca traffic force happened upon the scene almost immediatley after the crash. He found both women unconscience in the wreck of their auto which had overturned from the impact of the collision with an auto driven by Bert Herring, 79 Thornton Ave. Buffalo, NY. As Zimpfer began extraqcting them, two other town policemen, Clarence Horn and Joseph Breidenstein went to his aid. Miss Wunsch is believed to have suffered a broken hip. Her companion suffered a sever head cut. Both were taken home. Herring was only slightly injured. Although the policemen fought the fire, they were unable to make any headway and were forced to call the village fire department, which too was unsuccessful" ( this information was from a newpaper article in the possesion of Kaye Wunsch Arlotta; Clara's daughter. The article was not complete and missing information) Clara had burns and other injuries and after several days at home was taken to Mercy Hospital where she died from her injuries.
