Joel was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on January 9, 1969. Joel graduated from Bastrop High School in 1987. He attended The University of Mary Hardin Baylor on a golf scholarship for a year. He then attended Ranger Junior College where he was on a full scholarship as the football manager.

After that, Joel joined the United States Army, where he served for five years. A long-time World War II history buff, he enjoyed his time being stationed in Germany. Joel was a veteran of Desert Storm, where he earned several medals for his valor. Joel shared many memories over the years of his time in the Army. He loved the travel and history of the military, but also remembered the hardships of serving in battle. Joel continued his education after his honorable discharge from the Army where he graduated from St. Edwards University with a bachelor of science in composite social studies. Joel continued to run his father’s family business of building doll stands and later managed the family’s rental properties.

Those who knew Joel knew he was an avid collector of fine antiques. He took pride in his many first-edition books, porcelain, and bronze collections.

Joel is survived by his mother, Reba Davis of Early, and his brother Joshua Davis of Manor; he was preceded in death by his father Carl Davis. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In his own unique style, Joel requested a private family service. He is remembered fondly by his many friends and family who loved his quirky personality.
