SUMMERLIN, Mrs. Lucy (G.S.) of Thorndale. Age 87. Died 11/5/1959 (Thursday) after a long illness. Services held (Sat,) at First Baptist Church. Burial in the Thorndale City Cemetery. Rev. Reuel J. Cooper, pastor of the church, assisted by Rev. Clyde Majors of Hutto, officiated. Condra Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

She was BORN Lucy Hillon Peebles on 5/19/1872 at Watson Branch. Married Giles Smith Summerlin on 2/12/1891. They had 9 children. Member of the Baptist church at an early age and church remained her first concern. Active in First Baptist Church organizations and was the last charter member. She had a keen interest in the schools and was active in the social life of Community. For many years she assumed responsibility for collecting clothing, toys and Christmas gifts for the children of Buckner's Orphanage in Dallas. Preceded in death by son, Frank Peebles Summerlin and daughter, Vera Lee Summerlin.

SURVIVORS: 5 daughters, Mrs. Lyngle D. Barnes, Thorndale, Mrs. Homer K. Spillar, Austin, Mrs. Harden H. Camp, Thorndale, Mrs. Tom Masters, Richmond, KY., Mrs. W. Eugene Caughron, Austin; 2 sons, Giles Smith Summerlin, Jr., of Del Rio and Harold Manning Summerlin of Thorndale; sister, Mrs. Fred N. Robbins of Dallas; 2 brothers, George W. Peebles of Thorndale and Oscar Peebles of Houston; 13 grandchildren & 15 great-grandchildren.
