She was baptized, confirmed and later married at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. She married Paul B. Rasmussen on June 7, 1941. It was a marriage that lasted 56 years until Paul died on Feb. 15, 1997.
Laura was a Red Cross nurse's aide while Paul served with a railway battalion for three years in Europe during World War II. She later volunteered in many hospitals and churches in the towns in which they lived. Laura's life was devoted to Paul and their three daughters. As Paul's career prospered with the Great Northern and Burlington Northern Railways, the family moved many times. Home was in Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, and Missouri.
The couple retired to Green Valley, Ariz. in 1979, being drawn by the sunny Sonoran Desert. Laura was an avid bridge player, a golfer for 50 years, and a member of the Green Valley Hiking Club in the 1980s. Together with Paul she enjoyed working on genealogies for family and friends. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Risen Savior in Green Valley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, and her sister, Doris Coleman of Tacoma, WA. Interment at St. John's Church cemetery, Pennock, MN
