Mr. Benton was born in Danbury, N.C.
Survivors include his sons, Aruther Benton of Gibsonville, Charles Benton of Whitsett and stepson, Cleophas Stewart of Greensboro; brothers, Mack and Jack Benton of Greensboro and Marion Benton of McLeansville; 17 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 7-7:30 p.m. tonight at Hargett Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
