Shelby Graves

Shelby Gene Graves, 67, of Hardy, Arkansas, formerly of Orrick, passed away Friday August 24, 2007 at North Kansas City Hospital.

Born January 25, 1940 in Saffell, Arkansas, he was the son of Lloyd C. and Freda (Gardner) Graves. On August 29, 1958 in Benton Harbor, MI he was married to Annette Taylor and to this marriage one daughter was born.

Surviving are his daughter, Janet Millsap and husband Mike of Orrick; one grandson, Tony Millsap of Orrick; two brothers, Kelly Graves and wife JoAnn of Salem, AR and Aubrey Graves and wife Tonya of Orrick; one sister, Etta Mae Major of Thayer and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Eugene Graves in infancy.

Mr. Graves was self-employed as a carpenter and at one time owned and operated Graves Construction. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and playing pool, and had been a past member of Kansas City Carpenter's Union Local 43.

Funeral services will be held Monday August 27, 2007 at 10:00 am at Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Visitation will be after 1:00 pm Sunday with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 Sunday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in Southpoint Cemetery in Orrick.
