Family Burial for Derek D. Adams, 65, of Fairmont, Minnesota formerly of Sherburn, will be held at a later time in Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion, Iowa.
Derek died on Tuesday evening, June 9, 2020 at Mayo Clinic Health System – St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester, MN. The staff at Kramer Family Funeral Home extends their appreciation to the Adams Family for their trust.
Derek Duane Adams was born on January 7, 1955 to Don and Frances (Bethell) Adams in Madelia, Minnesota. He attended elementary school in Eagle Grove, Iowa and in southern Minnesota. Derek then attended Sherburn Junior-Senior High School later graduating with the class of 1973. From 1973-1975 he served in the United States Army. He attended Mankato State University, where he discovered his love for theater and later graduating with a Theater Degree. Derek majored in theater and took part in many plays. He later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1985. He was employed as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service for twenty-seven years. He continued to act in the Tulsa Community Theater as well as in children’s ministry video productions. His son, Taylor Ervin Adams, was born in 1986. Derek moved to Fairmont, Minnesota, after retiring.
He is survived by his son, Taylor Adams, and daughter-in-law, Diane of New Jersey; father, Don Adams of Fairmont, Minnesota; brother, Ned Adams of Fairmont, Minnesota; sisters, Boni Worthley and her husband, David of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Beth Armstead and her husband, Rod of San Rafael, New Mexico; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Derek was preceded in death by his grandparents, mother, Frances “Fran” Adams on May 11, 2015 and other relatives.
