Neil H. Butler, 88, East Sharpsburg, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning at his home.

He was born in East Sharpsburg, son of the late Raymond F. and Ann H. (Hufford) Butler. He married Barbara M. Moore on May 23, 1952, and she died Dec. 19, 2010.

Surviving are a daughter, Melissa A. Snowberger of East Sharpsburg; a brother, Larry O. Butler of Erie; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four siblings: Mona Butler, Harriet M. Bowers, Raymond B. Butler and H. Lyle Butler. Neil retired from Roaring Spring Blank Book after 44 years of service and had previously worked at the Pennsylvania Railroad — Altoona Shops.

He was a member of Christ Church, Roaring Spring, where he sang in the choir.

Neil enjoyed watching old movies, boating and spending time at the camp at the old Raystown, and he loved spending time with family and friends.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2020, at Christ Church, Roaring Spring, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2020, the Rev. Joel Kletzing officiating. Interment will be in Alto-Reste Park. Arrangements are by the Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Neil’s memory may be given to Christ Church, 7524 Woodbury Pike, Roaring Spring, PA 16673, Mending Hearts, P.O. Box 97, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648 or the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
