Dr. Albert Devitt Heist (1872-1955) was a homeopathic doctor and a dentist who spoke at many health and archealogy seminars. He practiced dentistry from 1898 to 1902 in Kitchener, Ontario, New York, and then graduated from the Atlantic College of Osteopathy in 1905 at the age of 33 and became a homeopathic surgeon, using an old practice known as "dry-cupping," which is a medical practice still being used in some places. He also enjoyed studying archaeology. He was a practicing member of the Bahai'i faith and held meetings in his home regularly.

Together, Albert and Lucy had three daughters and one son: Elizabeth "Beth" Marguerite Heist (1903-1991) -married John Petrie Patterson (1898-1978), Lucile Janette Heist (1905-1992) -married Everett Sheppard Brown (1896-1971), Albert Dean Heist (1912-1970) -married Helen White (1915 - ?); had no children, and Eleanore Ruth Heist (1915-1995) -married Robert Earl Clise (1915-1985).
On 7 September 1947, Albert married wife (2) Alice Marion Cook (1896-1976). Alice was a staunch Baptist, who had never before married, and was employed as a secretary at a Baptist university in Buffalo, New York. In 1947, when Alice Marion Cook was aged 51, she married Dr. Albert Devitt Heist. Alice Marion Cook and Lucy Lillian Cook were sisters; both were the daughters of William Peter Cook and Elizabeth (Walty) Cook, and the descendants of Francis Cook of the Mayflower. Albert often said that, when he lost his beloved Lucy, he reached a little further up her branch on the tree to pick the next fruit!
