Graveside services for Joy Ann Scogin Dean Norris, of Cache, OK, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Forest Lawn Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home, Leesville, LA. Bro. Craig Forque of First Baptist Church, Leesville, LA, will be officiating.
Joy Ann Scogin Dean Norris was born on August 9, 1933 in Leesville, LA. She passed away in her home at Cache, OK, on June 11, 2020. Her daughter and son were with her.
Joy Ann attended Leesville High School and graduated in 1951. In high school Joy Ann was an avid basketball player. She would always say she went to school to play basketball, not for an education. She married her school sweetheart of many years and the love of her life, Jerry C. Dean, on May 6, 1951. They had 27 wonderful years together. They were married until Jerry’s death on October 7, 1978. Later, Joy Ann married Sidney B. Norris. They were married 27 years until his death on May 14, 2010.
Joy Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joy Ann was the owner of a successful childrens clothing in Leesville, LA, Dean’s Youngland, for over 30 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Leesville, LA. and later at First Baptist Church, Cache, OK. She loved God and her church and church families in both locations.
Joy Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Weldon Bailey Scogin and Joy Asby Scogin; her brother, Jim Scogin; her granddaughter, Dana Dean; and her grandson, Chad Clark.
Joy Ann is survived by her brother, Joe Scogin and wife Penny, sister-in-law, Ginger Scogin; her two children: Debbie Dean Jenkins, Cache, OK, and Donny Dean and wife Dodi, Suwanee, GA; three grandchildren, Jason Clark, Lakewood, CO, Darren Dean and wife Lindsey, Roswell, GA, and Haley Thompson and husband Cameron, Atlanta, GA; her five great grandchildren, Jameson, Quinn, Ethan, Wesley and Mason; and many nieces and nephews.
