ELKHART, IN. -- Christine Davis, 72, (also known as "Sis. Bessant to her loving church family) of Elkhart, IN, was called home to her heavenly father Thursday, June 11, 2020, surrounded by her family. Christine was born July 21, 1947 in Rich, MS to the union of the late Cornell Davis Sr., and Sarah K. (Ballard) Davis who preceded her to heaven.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her four children, Alix (Heidi) Davis, Howard E. Davis, Kimbely “Kim” Bessant all of Elkhart and Khristine “Kandie” (Rayshond) Bessant of Ft. Wayne, IN. Also, surviving her brothers Cornell “Sonni” Davis, Jr., Pittsburgh, PA and step-brother Harry Agnew, Elkhart; sisters Kattie Davison, Sheila K. and Mary D. Davis all of Mansfield, OH, Minnette Brooks and Patsy Davis of Elkhart, grandchildren Treston A. Dye, Alexis Pellot, Aliah Davis of Elkhart, DeShaur Pegue of Evansville and Raya Cantrell of Fort Wayne, great grand-children Alixander Pellot and Paris "P.J" Banks Jr. of Elkhart; special brother and sister Edith and Willie Lee of Elkhart, IN, step-mother Mamie Dell Davis and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.

Christine Davis was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Sersha and Minnie Davis; maternal grandmother Elsie Borden, her daughter Rita Davis, brother Edward Davis and Howard E. Davis, stepsister Edith "Peaches" Malon and nephew, Cory Davis.

Christine retired from Elkhart Community Schools; she worked many years at First National Bank as a mailroom clerk and was employed at Alpha Systems until her illness. Christine was a dedicated member of Greater Wayside Temple C.O.G.I.C in Elkhart, Indiana. She was the church secretary, choir member, and the Sunshine Band teacher. She enjoyed helping the youth with designing costumes, props, and crafts to go forth before the Lord. She cherished her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her beloved church family. She could always be found with her camera capturing memories of everyone she knew or with a cup of hot tea in her hand. She would travel near or far to show her support to others and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in any way.
