He was a native of Spencer County, a retired employee of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Army vetran of the Korean War and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1179 and Southgate Masonic Lodge 87 Prince Hall Affiliate.
Survivors: two daughters, Vanessa and Inez Harris, both of Shelbyville; four sons, Damon Harris and Dwayne Cardwell, both of Shelbyville, Stanley Harris and J. Yonzel Fleming; three brothers, Raymond Harris of Cincinnati and Herbert and John Harris, both of Shelbyville; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Funeral: 1 p.m. Friday, Bethel AME Church, Shelbyville. Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Shelbyville. Visitation: the church, 6-9 p.m. Thursday. Arrangements: Hathaway & Clark Funeral Home.
