September 23, 1939 - June 09, 2020

Rebecca Combs Richardson, age 80, formerly of Bluefield VA died Tuesday June 9, 2020 in Asheboro NC.

A graveside service will be held Saturday June 13, at Maple Hill Cemetery at 11:00 am, with the Rev. Don Nation officiating.

Becky was a native of Tazewell County. She lived each day trying to make the life of everyone around her better. She was a longtime member of Virginia Ave United Methodist Church where she served many years as a Sunday school teacher, youth choir leader and member of the adult choir. She spent her final 5 years teaching a bible study class to her fellow residents at Mountain Top Independent living.

She was an art teacher for many years and to many people that ranged in age from 5 to 90 plus years old. She loved her students like they were her own children and her own family members. She loved sports, whether it was watching a game on TV, listening on the radio to cheer on her grandchildren, or sitting in the stands and yelling at the refs. She loved reading books and would never shy away from talking politics or about the bible.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald “Skeeter” Richardson; parents Jack and Pauline Combs; and son Randal Lane.

She is survived by her brother Bill Combs and his wife Barbara of Exton, PA; Brother in law Tom Richardson and wife Jane of Bluefield, VA; three sons, Chuck “Skeeter” Richardson and his wife Tina of Fishersville, VA; Cris Richardson and his wife Tammy of Asheboro, NC; and Scott Richardson and his wife Pam of Katy, TX.
