Susan Dorton Childers, 53, of Cleveland, NC, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at her residence along side her loving husband, Marty Franklin Childers.
She was born on August 13, 1966 in Shelby, NC, to the late Marshall “Gene” and Carol Rogers Dorton. Susan had a passion for her career in nursing. At home, she enjoyed flower gardening, watching birds, traveling, especially to the beach, and going antiquing. Her greatest enjoyment was playing with her grandson, Dex, and spending time with her children.
She is survived by her sons, Matthew and James Davis (Hannah Wellmon); stepchildren, Josh Childers (Sarah); Anna Childers Rehn (Aaron) and her beloved grandson, Dex Rehn. She is also survived by her aunt, Janice Brawley (Gene); uncle, Joe Neel and many beloved cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2020 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home & Crematory. The funeral service will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at Triplett United Methodist Church with Pastor David Childers officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
