His mother is Polly Ann (Mary) Dungans (aka Duncan). She came from Virginia and married his father Joseph Bishop in Pulaski, Kentucky.
Note: Most of his life he used the first name Nelson. The name William may represent the middle initial "W" . The death certificate from Illinois indicates the correct mother Duncan (aka Dungans) and father Joseph Bishop. It shows Nelson's correct birth year of 1820. One year prior to Nelson's death, he remarried. I suspect it was his new wife's idea to include the first name William.
In addition to Mary, Joshua & David;
Nelson and Tempy had 6 other children Sara, Joshua,Joseph(did not survive infancy),John, American Ellen and Trazy.When Nelson W (William on his death record, Wilson on a transcription of the record of his second marriage, Washington by a researcher in one document) Bishop was born in 1820 in Indiana, his father, Joseph, was 29 and his mother, Polly Dungan, was 20.
MARRIAGES
He married Tampa Tempy (Tempie) Maria Wright on April 8, 1841, in Hamilton, Indiana. They had up to six children in their household, depending on the census year. One of the children was John. Nelson Bishop was a farmer. He may have been a land owner, and he may have been a Guardsman for the State of Missouri during the Civil War. (There were several Nelson Bishop's during this Nelson's lifetime who lived in Missouri.) After the death of Tempy, Nelson married Margaret Ream on October 3, 1895, in Hancock, Illinois.
DEATH AND BURIAL
Nelson died in 1896 in Hancock, Illinois. A married sister was buried in the same cemetery that Nelson was documented for burial. As of 2020 there were two Webster Cemeteries in the county of Hancock, so his remains were probably buried in the one in St Albans -- the township where his sister was buried. However, no record of a gravesite was made by a photographer in 2020.
