She was a graduate of North Whitfield High School. Shirley loved nothing more than hanging out at home, enjoyed commenting her opinions on others Facebook posts, and loved her grandchildren dearly. She and her husband Ralph spent many years living together in Okeechobee, Florida.
She is survived by her daughter, Tonya and Chuck Walter of Cleveland, Tennessee; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Peggy Ellis; sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Dan Combs of Rock Face, Linda and Dwight Kiker of Dawsonville, Diane Grant of Dalton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Annette Grant, Roger and Emily Grant all of Dalton; brother-in-law, Bill Groves; grandchildren, Chanda Daniel, Victoria Wonser, Randy Ellis, Tyler Macaulay, Alexandra Macaulay, Heath Armes, Tessa Armes, Haley Walter, and Cody Walter; great-grandchildren, Dixie Mae Wonser, Annabelle Wonser, Landon Wonser, Zaylan Keen; special friends, Debbie Navarro of Cleveland, TN., and Louise “Wezzie” Young of Okeechobee, FL.; many nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Shirley Ellis will be held on Friday, June 12, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. at Eleventh Avenue Baptist Church with her son, Pastor Terry Ellis, and grandson, Pastor Randy Ellis officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Center Valley United Methodist Church Cemetery in Murray County, Georgia, with Pastor Roger Wagner in charge of graveside rites. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Ronnie Grant, Michael Wonser, Bryan Youell, C. J. Ragey, Bobby Kiker and Brandon Combs. Honorary pallbearer will be Jeff Cass.
