Memorial Service for George Babcock Cunningham, age 83 of Ruston. LA., will be Friday, June 12, 2020 at 10:30 A.M. with visitation from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at Douglas Church in Choudrant under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.

George was born August 8, 1936 in Richmond, Virginia. George graduated at Byrd High School in Shreveport, LA. in 1954, graduated at LA. Tech University in Ruston, LA with a Bachelor of Arts in 1958, graduated Emory University with a Bachelor in Divinity in 1961 and a Bachelor of Divinity conferred as Master of Divinity in 1972.

George served for 38 years as pastor of 11 churches/charges in the Louisiana Conference of the United Methodist Church. He was granted his License to Preach in 1955 while a member of his home church, Noel, in Shreveport. After being ordained Deacon in 1960 he served as a Supply Pastor in the Rocky Mountain Conference for a summer before completing his theology degree at Emory. In 1962, he became an Elder and served a total of 11 appointments throughout his ministry before retirement in 1998. At that time he bought a house across the street from a golf course where he and his wife Nancy spent many days enjoying the game of golf. As an alumnus of Louisiana Tech he cheered on the Dawgs during sporting events in the Fall and Spring. His favorite summer activity was camping in the mountains with his sons and the grands. Second to his love of spending time with his family was his dedication to keeping his automobiles up-to-date and always dependable for road trips.

Preceded in death are his parents; Ousby Reives Cunningham and Beatrice Flora North, sister; Ann Smith, brothers; Ousby Reives Cunningham, Jr. and Frank North Cunningham.

Surviving family is his wife of 52 years, Nancy; he leaves 4 sons, 2 daughters-in-law, 8 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild: Michael Lee Cunningham of Devine, TX with children Chad, Tori, Tara, Mikaela and granddaughter Cecilia. Chris Morgan Cunningham of Denver, Co. and wife Mary Lynn Loga Cunningham with daughters Annabelle and Rachael; George Russell Cunningham of Luling, LA and wife Misti Borden Cunningham with sons Cameron and Connor, and son Scott North Cunningham of Ruston, LA.
