Mrs. Terry Ellen Jenkins Whiting, 71, of Winston-Salem, left this earth to join her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 8, 2020. Terry was born on October 4, 1948, to the late Claude Alan Jenkins and Labelle Blaken Jenkins. She was a member of West Side Community Church where she volunteered in the infant and toddler room. Terry enjoyed shopping and working in her garden. Her real passion in life was spending time with her family and friends, most especially chasing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Terry is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Wayne Edward Whiting; daughter, Tina Tyree; son, Clyde Tyree (Trey); grandsons, Jared Crouse and Gary Hallenbeck, Jr.; granddaughter, Hannah Konrad; great-grandchildren, Jaymyn Lee, Kendal Crouse, and Jared Crouse, Jr.; sister, Gayle Smith; and two nephews, Philip Smith and Brian Smith. Terry also leaves behind from her earthly journey numerous loving friends who helped care for her during her battle with Alzheimer’s. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all who helped care for Terry, most especially Karen Hallenbeck and Linda Hallenbeck, for their patience and love through the war. The family will hold a small and heartfelt private service to celebrate Terry’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association-Western Carolina Chapter, 4600 Park Rd. #250, Charlotte, NC 28209, www.alz.org/northcarolina.
