Chris William Smith, 52, passed away March 27, 2019 at his home, after a courageous, 8-year battle with cancer. He was born November 29, 1966 in Beaver, Utah to Blake William and Nancy Yardley Smith.

Throughout his school years in Beaver, he was involved in various activities and sports, graduating from Beaver High with the class of 1985. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Ohio Cleveland Mission from 1985-1987. He then attended college at SUU and UVCC, graduating with a degree in diesel mechanics.

His passion for farming brought him back to live and raise his family in Beaver. He married Nancy Willis on June 28, 1991 in the St. George LDS Temple and they were blessed with 4 amazing children: Krystle (Jon), Landon Chris, Dillon Blake, and McCoy James and 2 grandchildren: Calder John and Harper Dee Proper.

He had a love for cars and antique gasoline memorabilia, signs, and Coca-Cola. The hunt for the perfect item was half the fun. He was very proud of the 1930 Model A Ford car that he restored in high school. But his biggest love was for his family and enjoyed following and watching them in all of their activities.

Chris had a strong love for his community and served on the City Council for 10 years. He was a great friend to all and loved by many. His convictions of the gospel and love of the Church led him to serve in many positions, including the High Priest Group Leader, Bishopric, and High Council.

Chris is preceded in death by his brother Shawn, sister Rebecca Gillins, and brother-in-law Brent Atkin. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren. Also, by his parents and siblings Nanette Atkin, Kelly (Julie) Smith, Alan (Holly) Smith, and brother-in-law Steve Gillins.

The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Huntsman Cancer Institute for all of their support and love they’ve given us during this journey.
