Jerry D. Duty, 73, passed from this life in his home the morning of June 9, 2020. He was born in Ada, Oklahoma to Charlie Houston Duty and Mildred Estelle (Hill) Hall on May 10, 1947.

Jerry grew up and attended high school in Ada. He then joined the United States Army from 1968 to 1972, where he served two tours in Vietnam.

After the Army, Jerry married the love of his life, and wife of 47 years, Brenda (Powell) Duty. The couple traveled around moving back and forth and eventually settled in Vinita, Oklahoma in 1989. Jerry and Brenda then retired together in 2005 and moved down to Norman, Oklahoma.

Jerry was a proud and active member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was a steadfast Sooners fan, he enjoyed fishing and taking trips all over with Brenda.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers: Louis Dean Welch and John David Duty. Left to cherish his precious memory are his wife, Brenda, two sisters: Glenda Perez and Judy Bleer, and a brother Weldon Joe “Jody” Duty. As well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at 10:00AM at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Norman, Oklahoma with burial to follow.
