Warren Nelson, 94, of LaMoure, ND, passed away June 9, 2020 at the North Dakota Veterans Home, Lisbon, ND.
Warren was born at Berlin, ND to Edward and Anna (Dean) Nelson on November 7, 1925. He began school in Berlin and joined the Army after high school. Warren was a Veteran of the Korean War. He married Donna Arndt on October 12, 1949 at the Cottonwood Presbyterian Church, rural LaMoure. They moved to Portland, Oregon, where they lived for two years before moving back to the Fullerton farm. They farmed and raised their family in Fullerton, ND most of their lives. Warren served on the Fullerton School Board and the Yorktown Township Board. Later, after 45 years of farming, they retired, and built a home in LaMoure. Warren loved to play pinochle and he and Donna often had guests over to play cards. No family get together or holiday was complete without a good game of pinochle.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 70 years, Donna Nelson, daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Doug (Nelson) Hurt, two brothers and two sisters.
Warren is survived by two sons; Michael (Margaret) Nelson and Patrick (Versella) Nelson; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2020 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral at 10:00 a.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in LaMoure. Warren's service will be live streamed for the public on his obituary page. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery near LaMoure.
