Obituary for Mr. Andrew Jerry Carter
Carter - Andrew “Andy” Jerry Carter, age 64, of Macclenny, Florida passed away on June 3, 2020 at Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital. Andy was born on June 12, 1955 in Cheverly, Maryland to the late Andrew Robert Carter and Sandra Sue Scott Carter. He was raised in Sanderson and West Jacksonville. And joined the United States Army when he was 17 years old. He graduated high school while serving in Junction City, Kansas at Fort Riley and proudly served our country for 8 years, until being honorably discharged. Andy met the love of his life, Linda McCarty, in the early 70’s and they were happily married on August 31, 1973. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather who loved his family dearly. Andy enjoyed his longtime career as a Sheet Metal Foreman with the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 435 in Jacksonville, FL and also as a Manager with FBG which later became SCG, a maintenance and cleaning company. He enjoyed family gatherings, cruising, barbecuing, fishing, swimming, snorkeling, playing cards, as well as going to Daytona Beach with his family. More than anything, Andy loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bill Carter.

Andy is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Linda Carter of Macclenny, FL; his children, April Nelson, Tammy Hodges, and Misty (Ron) Miller all of Macclenny, FL, and Joseph (Sina) Carter of Pioneer, TN; his brothers, Mike (Pat) Carter of Jacksonville, FL and Steven Carter of Jacksonville Beach, FL; his sister, Cathy Taylor of Georgetown; sister-in-law, Susan Carter; grandchildren, Cassandra Guajardo, Andrew Guajardo, Zachary Harvey, Benjamin Hodges, Lucas Hodges, Darrin Hodges, Marissa Miller, Mason (Amber) Miller, Allie Cooler, Skye Miller, Danielle Nelson, Auston Nelson, Karissa Nelson, Anthony Carter, and Alizabeth Carter; and his great grandchildren, Clayton and Rhett Miller, and Harper Hodges.
