Geneva Addison Payne, age 88 of Lilburn, GA, died peacefully on Friday, June 5, 2020, at home surrounded by family.

Geneva was born in Stephens County, GA on April 16, 1932 and graduated Stephens County High School. She moved to Atlanta in 1959 and worked for Cotton Producers in Accounts Receivable. After a break to start a family, she worked over 12 years with H&R Block as an Assistant Bookkeeper where she formed many lasting friendships. She later worked for Ellman’s and Service Merchandise, Dental One Associates, and Dr. Mark P. Benner, D.D.S. She was a loyal employee and always treated everyone she encountered with respect and kindness.

Geneva was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She leaves a legacy of love and compassion for all people and how to live life with grace to the end. She endured the humbling effects of Parkinson’s with patience and kindness towards herself and others. She was often known to exclaim, “What a wonderful day!”, and lived a life of gratitude for blessings received from her Heavenly Father. She was a devout Christian and was baptized at Tom’s Creek Baptist Church and later attended Woodlawn Baptist Church in Decatur and First Baptist Church Snellville.

Geneva was preceded in death by her parents: Joel Thomas Addison and Louanna Kay; brothers and sisters: Opal Wilson (Boyd), Ruveal Mosley (Clarence), Paul Addison (Bonnie Faye), Wintferd Addison (Mable), Norman Addison, Alice Moseley (Bruce), Sue Steele (Ray), Dwayne Addison, and Floyd Addison; sisters-in-law Marjorie Page (Don), Erlene May, Dorothy Capps (R.C.); brother-in-law Loy Payne; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Frank Payne; daughters Kay Weber of Atlanta and Julie Payne of Stone Mountain; grandchildren; John Weber of Douglasville, and Taylor Weber of Decatur; great-grandchild Jocelyn Weber; brother Marvin Addison (Catherine) of Toccoa, GA; sister-in-law Sara Abrams (Gerald) of Seymour, TN; brothers-in-law Doyle Payne (Margaret) of Carrolton, and William Payne (Suzy) of Atlanta; several nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly; and close friends that were like family.
