Leon John "Pin" Dalot Sr., 79, of Jay, died peacefully Tuesday evening, Oct. 5, with his family by his side.


He was born March 8, 1925, in Addison, a son of Frederick and Cora Crowley Dalot. He graduated in 1941 as valedictorian of his Addison High School class.


He was a United States Army veteran, having served during World War II and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.


He married Marguerite Morse of Cherryfield.


He was employed by G. H. Bass Shoe for 33 years.


A devoted husband and father, he is survived by two daughters, Deborah and her husband, Philip Quirion, of Wilton, and Bernadette Dalot and her companion, Claudia, of Arizona; five sons, Frederick and his wife, Deborah Dalot, and Michael Dalot and his companion, Tracey Bellegarde, all of Wilton, Leon J. Dalot Jr., Robert and his wife, Karenn Dalot, all of Jay, Richard Dalot and his companion, Judy Deckard, of Farmington; two brothers, Alan and his wife, Becky Dalot, of Augusta, and David and his wife, Cynthia Galen, of Jay; two sisters, Evon Kennedy of Wilton, and Elestine Gray of Milbridge; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.


He was predeceased by his parents; his beloved wife, Marguerite, in 1998; a daughter, Ardienne; a brother, John Dalot; and a grandson, Philip Quirion Jr.
