Marvis. Neumann, 80, who saw Miami Beach develop from four oceanfront hotels during her 29 years as executive secretary of the Miami Beach Board of Realtors, died Thursday. She lived at 2918 Alhambra Circle, Coral Gables.

Repose will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Philbrick and Son Coral Gables Funeral Home, followed by services at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. James Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Neumann was born in the state of Washington and came to Miami in 1928 to marry Maxfield M. Neumann, who was a general contractor and who helped organize the United Veterans Council of Dade County

SHE BECAME executive secretary of the Miami Beach Board of Realtors on a temporary basis in 1930 for a salary of $25 a week and summer months off without pay.

She originated a central listing bureau, which kept a record of all parcels of land from Government Cut to the Broward County line.
Mrs. Neumann founded the Miami Beach Business Women's League and served as its president for two years. She was director of the secretaries council of the National Association of Real Estate Boards for three years.

Other activities included writing a monthly column for The Real Estate Journal, membership in the American League of Pen Women and the Order of the Eastern Star, former membership in the Quota Club, membership in the University of Miami's Cancer Association and the Globetrotters.

MRS. NEUMANN was so active in her field that when she took vacation it made headlines on the real estate pages.

During a retirement banquet in her honor at the Saxony Hotel in 1959, she recalled her 29 years service on the Beach: "I remember when they cut the grass on Lincoln Road with mule teams," More than 400 business associates and friends turned out for her retirement dinner.

She helped strengthen licensing procedures on Miami Beach by making it compulsory for salesman to pass a examination.

She is survived by a son, Robert S.; a daughter, Sally Bean; a brother, William Scott; and two sisters, Mrs. Faye Brooks and Mrs. Bonnie Seber.

Burial will be in Spokane, Wash.

Marvi S. Neumann, 80, formerly of Spokane died Thursday at her home in Coral Gables, Fla.

Mrs. Neumann's late husband, Maxfield Neumann was a former state legislator and was noted for his athletic achievements.

Mrs. Neumann was a member of many business and professional organizations in Florida. She was the first executive secretary and member of the Board of Realtors in Coral Gables. She was also a member of American League of Ten Woman, the Globetrotters and the Riviera Women's Republican Club, all in Florida.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Sally Bean, Pensacola, Fla.; one son, Robert Neumann, Coral Gables, Six grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, including Mrs. Faye Brooks, Orofino, Idaho, and one brother in Montana.
