Thomas H. "Buck" Benton Sr., 79, a native and lifelong resident of Bon Secour, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2007.
He was a lifelong farmer and cattleman. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a Master Mason of Foley Lodge #766. He served in the Alabama House Of Representatives from 1970 to 1974. He then became the Sheriff of Baldwin County and served for the next twelve years.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Nelson Benton; two daughters, Deborah (Shane) Lee of Marion and Charlotte (David) Plumb of Bon Secour; son, Thomas H. (Martha) Benton Jr. of Mobile; seven grandchildren, Benton Lee and Margaret Ashley Lee of Marion, Caroline Bentley and Caitlin Plumb of Bon Secour, Thomas Hart Benton III, Olivia Benton and Isabella Benton of Mobile; four sisters, Arabella Rachel of Navarre, Fla., Annie Nelson of Fairhope, Elizabeth Sellers of Daphne and Mary Alice (John) Passwater of Huntsville; nieces, nephews, relatives and many special friends.
Funeral services and visitation were held Saturday, Aug. 11 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Interment followed at Pine Rest Cemetery in Foley.
