George was a long time member of the Providence Baptist Church in Milton, Georgia where he served this church as a Deacon. His most favorite enjoyment was being a member of the Forsyth County Singing Class. In addition to singing he enjoyed quail and pheasant hunting and he also enjoyed fishing.

He served his country as a Corporal in the United States Army in the Heavy Morton Company, 147 Infantry, Camp Polk Louisiana. He retired from the General Motors Plant in Doraville, Georgia.

He is survived by his of of 70 years Mrs. Martha Ann Wood Irvin. In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter Kathy Irvin Rogers Cook and her husband Howard; Linda Irvin Garmon and her husband Jackie; and several grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
