Reverend Charles "Biscuit" Alfred Richardson Sr. completed his earthly journey and peacefully entered eternal rest with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 3, 2020.

Charles was born in Newport News, Virginia on March 31, 1943 to Ernest and Winnie Boone Richardson. He grew up in East End and was educated in the Newport News Public School System. During his middle school years, he and his brother Allen, took trumpet lessons after school. He was quite active in high school and participated in multiple extracurricular activities including baseball, football, track, and band. Charles graduated from Huntington High School in the class of 1961.

During this time, his passion for the trumpet continued to grow which led him to play with a band called "Bob Marshall and the Crystals." He was always a hard worker. As a teen, he and his brother spent one summer priming tobacco in North Carolina and wanted to save for a down payment on a car. They sent their money home and when they arrived back to Virginia, their father had gotten their brand new 1959 Chevrolet. This was a highlight in his young life.

After graduation, he had a difficult time getting employment, but was able to work with his uncle in the building of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. He was later hired as a sheet metal mechanic in Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company.

He was drafted into the United States Army and served 2 years at Ft. Benning, GA.

After his term in the military, he was re-hired in the shipyard, completed a 4 year Apprenticeship Program, and worked in the Drafting department. He later took a position at Norfolk Naval Base and remained there until retirement in 2003.

Throughout the years, he was also known for his carpentry skills. He has put on many additions and made many repairs to homes throughout the Tidewater area and beyond. He had a passion and vision for building and always completed the job even if his client did not pay. Charles also loved people and was always ready to bless others whenever possible and he sowed into the lives of many. He would lend a hand, give money, help purchase a car, buy food, or allow one to skip rent payments. He never looked for repayment and understood that he was blessed to be a blessing and relied on the Lord for his supply.

Biscuit welcomed the challenge of mentoring young men. He would take them under his wing, never caring about their diverse background and teach them work ethics and how to be a man. He enjoyed talking and laughter with family and friends and he never met a stranger. He gave his life to the Lord and never looked back, living the life of the "Good Samaritan." He became a licensed minister at Providence Baptist Church and was a long-time member of Dunamis Christian Center.

Charles was a dedicated father, son, brother, uncle, and dear friend.

Preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Winnie Richardson; grandson, Kuame Floyd; brother James B. Richardson; and sister-in-law Mary Jane Richardson.

Survived by his beloved wife Delois Richardson; sons Charles (Toni) Richardson Jr and Ernest (Yolanda) Richardson; daughters Saleita (Charles) Robinson, Tejuan Banks, Sydnie (Douglas) Harris and Brigitta Byrd; grandchildren Taylour Robinson, Tre' Robinson, Cory Thornton, Kristin Thornton, Tanaya Banks, Marvin Segars, Douglas Harris, Amber Richardson, Charles Richardson III, Deshawn Byrd, Deannah Mackie, Deasia Bell, Yalaya Richardson, Lewis Richardson and Dakayla Dew; brother Allen (Reatha) Richardson; aunt Ethel (William) Washington; Stepchildren Victoria Glasgow, Thomas Dew, Portia Dew, Melaney Dew and Bryan Dew; brothers-in-law Daniel Pendleton and Gary Pendleton; sisters-in-law Sheryl (Donald) Washington and Jackie Claggett; special sons Dennis and Phil; and a host of great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, family and friends.
