Percy Wellington Fullerton, or "Perk" as he was known, was born the fourth child of Grover Dodson Fullerton (1887-1960) and Myrtle Mae Brown (1862-1967). He was born in Kit Carson, Colorado; by 1920 the family was in North Benton, Missouri and then moved to California, where Percy graduated from Fullerton High School. In 1941 he enlisted in the U.S. Army to serve during World War II. Before the war was over, he met and married, in 1944, Treva Dorine Cole who was working at Douglas Aircraft in southern California. The family lived in Artesia and Lancaster, Calif., before moving to Trinity County, California in 1960. They owned and operated Fullerton's Canyon Creek Ranch until 1964 and moved to the historic Canon City site in 1969-70 where they entertained family and many friends until Percy's death.

They had four children: Dennis Cole, Carol Rae, Raymond Wellington, and Marilyn Sue "Mary". Daughter Mary predeceased him. He was survived by his wife, three children, and several grandchildren.
