Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapel, Murray, Utah.
Obituary: Christine Vicchrilli Carpenter, August 20, 1956 - July 17, 2019. Chris was born in Murray, Utah and was the seventh child of Joe and Evelyn Vicchrilli. She spent many years as the baby of the family, riding the tractor with her dad, getting dressed up by her mom, and being doted on and teased simultaneously by her older siblings. At nine years old, she became a big sister to the final child in the Vicchrilli family.

Chris graduated from Murray High School in 1974 where she had been a booster club member and a friend to many. Following her graduation, she married and moved to Korea where her husband worked at the Osan Air Force Base. Subsequent moves took her to Las Vegas, then Reno, Nevada, then finally back home to the Murray/Midvale area. After many years, Chris finally became a mother to her precious daughter and found her true calling in life. So much time was spent playing with the toy kitchen, cabbage patch dolls, barbies, and big wheels. Chris was such a supportive mother. Later, time was spent watching her daughter’s basketball and softball games, chaperoning trips, and opening her home to many friends. In 1991, Chris began her nearly 30 years of employment with the Utah Jazz, stocking shelves for the Pro Image as a seasonal employee. Chris ended her years there as the Benefits Manager in Human Resources. She officially retired in May 2019. The Utah Jazz was Chris’s work family, and she loved her job. She made many dear friends throughout her career and was deeply grateful for all the love and support she received from her employer and co-workers. Some of Chris’s interests included golfing, traveling (especially to Italy), gardening, Utah Jazz basketball, and Utah Utes football. Her greatest passion was her family. As her parents aged, she spent more time with them, gardening for her dad, taking her mom shopping, and bringing dinner on Taco Tuesday. Chris attended all the family parties and always brought her famous cookies. She loved her siblings, nieces, and nephews, and began the fond tradition of giving them Christmas advent calendars each year. Chris’s “family” included many dear friends, as well, whom she claimed as her own. Much to her delight, Chris was “Grandma Chrissy” to her three granddaughters, whom she adored with her whole heart. A lifetime of experiences were shared in the short time they spent together: Disney, Yellowstone, and Hawaii vacations; t-ball, softball, and basketball games; dance recitals; swim parties; zoo visits; sleepovers; reading; holiday celebrations (including decorations and t-shirts); and more. She loved her granddaughters immensely and still does.

Chris is survived by her children: Tara and Jeff Jorgensen; granddaughters: Katelyn, Liza, and Hailey; siblings: Barbara and Jerry Neff, Jim and Kathy Vicchrilli, Jolynn and Danny Colledge, David and Sue Vicchrilli, George and Rela Vicchrilli, Geoff Vicchrilli, and Marci and Mark Wessman; nieces; nephews; extended family; and cherished friends. She is preceded in death by her parents. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home located at 4760 South State Street, Murray Utah. Viewings will be held at the funeral home on Monday July 22nd, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, July 23rd, from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Grateful to the many family members and friends who loved and supported Chris through her illness. Also grateful to her doctors: Gregg, Zempolich, Skidmore, and Pingree; and nursing staff: Ronda and Tayler. Chris’s hope was that her granddaughters would remember her.
