Johnston City-Brian L. Holmes 42 years old of Johnston City passed away peacefully at 1:05 A.M. on Friday June 5, 2020 in Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St Louis, when the Lord called him into his eternal care. Brian is at rest and we hold him close within us.

Brian is preceded in death by 1 brother, Charles A. Holmes; grandparents, Gilbert and Catherine Louis Holmes, William “Bud” and Alma Aileen Ticer; 2 uncles, Michael Holmes and Jimmy Holmes.

Brian is the son of and survived by Christina and Larry “Bo” of Johnston City, N. and L. Holmes of Creal Springs; his loving wife of over 20 years, A. M Holmes of Herrin; 2 sons, E. W. Holmes of Johnston City, E. W. Holmes of Herrin; 1 daughter, M. B. Holmes of Herrin; 2 brothers, J. Holmes and J. Holmes of Creal Springs; father and mother-in-law, Harry and Cindy; sister-in-law, Melissa; brother-in-law, Harry Jr.; nieces; nephews; great nieces; best friend, Billy and his son; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Brian and Amber shared such a deep endless love that most everyone wished for. And the love that he had for his children was unconditional. Many of Brian’s proudest moments involved those spent with his family, especially his children. Brian saw his nieces and nephews and Alex as his own and helped raise them alongside his own 3 children. It may seem like a non-traditional family but his bond with them was unbreakable and he loved them all as they all loved him.

Brian loved listening to music and filling every ones text messages up with his favorite tunes. Helping his kids work on their four wheelers when he was able to do so. Playing Basketball and frisbee, walk and hiking with his kids. He loved taking long drives, especially if the car was on empty. Two of his favorite quotes were “That’s a nice boulder” and “You cut me deep Shrek, you cut me deep”.

Brian had a heart of gold and a smile that carried on for miles. We will forever adore and remember him, his love and memories will always live on.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. at Spring Hill Cemetery in Creal Springs on Wednesday June 10, 2020.
