Susan Short, 67 died April 17, 2012 from Renal failure caused by Stage IV Renal Cancer.
Born January 13, 1945 in Philadelphia, Pa., Susan grew up an Army kid living on or near 13 military installations including Occupied Japan and Taiwan. She graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1963. She married her husband of 48 years, James E. Short in October of 1963 and settled in Sacramento before moving to Folsom, Calif., in 1972.
Susan worked for the US Postal Service for over 28 years and pursued her dream of seeing the country full-time in an RV upon retirement. She was able to spend considerable time with all four of her grandchildren as she traveled regularly between Cottage Grove, Ore., and Columbia Falls, Mont.
She loved her friends, camping, scrapbooking, crafting, genealogy and her church. Susan was an only child and was preceded in death by her parents Gwendolyn (Ford) Reed in 1992, and William H. Reed in 2002. A giving person her entire life, Susan donated her body to advance the studies of medical science. In light of her giving spirit, donations are encouraged to the charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held in Folsom, Calif., on June 16, 2012.
