From Mission Parks Funeral Chapels:

Vivian D. Peters Stewart went to be with the Lord on September 4, 2019 at the age of 99.
She was born on May 28, 1920 in Peach Orchard, Arkansas, where she spent her early years. The family eventually moved to nearby Jonesboro where she grew up and met Joe M. Stewart. A few year after high school they married and moved to Memphis, Tennessee. Their first son, Joe David, was born there in 1941. WWII brought them to San Antonio, Texas, where her mother and father had already moved to. In 1948, Vivian and Joe welcomed their second son, Larry Nolan.

Vivian started her career as a legal secretary in Memphis and continued working for various prestigious law firms in San Antonio. At the end of her career, she became a librarian for a large accounting firm.

She was active in Hot Wells Baptist Church and mentored countless young ladies as a Sunday school teacher and friend. Many of her students remained lifelong friends. For the last 24 years, Vivian was an active member of First Baptist Church of San Antonio and participated in Sunday school and activities until unable to attend. She was grateful for the Television Ministry at First Baptist and always encouraged friends to contribute to this worthy Ministry.

Vivian and Joe were always willing to help nephews and nieces who loved them dearly. Also the neighborhood children always found a loving welcome.

She had unrestricted love for grandson Sean and granddaughter Emma.

She loved to reminisce about her trips to Canada – visiting Joe – and her trip to Europe/Belgium to visit Larry.

Her last words to family and friends were to “Have No Regrets”.

Vivian was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joe M. Stewart; Her Parents, David and Anna Peters; Her Sisters Vera Hierholzer (Stan), Mary Clark; Brother Grover Peters (Jay Dean); and Nephew Stanley Hierholzer.

She is survived by Son Joe David Stewart (Debbie), Son Larry Nolan Stewart (Marianne), Grandson Sean Stewart (Christine) and Granddaughter Emma Stewart Bernstein (Ben). And numerous Nieces and Nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to:

Visitation will begin on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service to begin at 11:00 a.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park South.
