Bettie Foster was born May 30, 1942 in Kensington, GA., to the late Mr. John L. Mathis and Mrs. Janie Upshaw Mathis.

She received her education in the Walker County School System. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She later moved to Chattanooga and joined Greater St. Mary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John L. Mathis; husband, Ecclesiastes Foster, Sr.; son, Ecclesiastes Foster, Jr.; daughter, Tabatha Foster; four brothers Joseph, Mose, James (Jimbo) and Sidney Mathis; four sisters, Lizzie Hammonds, Lettie Sue Davis, Ida Palmer, and Carrie Ann Harris; granddaughter, Jamelian Foster.

She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Renee' Foster Earls, of Chattanooga; 10 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mamie Mathis, Carolyn Mathis, Eula Mathis McLin, Sarah Foster, and Tessie Foster; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A public visitation will be held 3-6 pm, Thursday, June 11, 2020. A private funeral service will be held. Interment: Chattanooga National Cemetery.
