Sara Hayes Davis Tift passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at the age of ninety-eight from natural causes. She was born on January 15, 1922.

She lived a long life of joy and love. After marrying Van Davis and graduating from the University of Georgia in 1943, they moved to Douglas, Georgia in 1948. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Douglas and taught in the Coffee County schools for thirty years in the field of physical education and health. She volunteered at the Coffee Regional Medical Center as an Auxilian. Ms. Tift enjoyed her Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves, playing golf and cards, and traveling.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Van Davis (1987) and Robert Tift (2018).

Survivors include:
Son, Andy Davis of Dalton, GA.
Daughter, Sarolyn Davis of Knoxville, TN. Step-sons: John D. (Valerie) Persons of Midlothian, VA and Sam (Becky) Tift of High Springs, FL.
Sister-in-law, Ann Davis (Fred) Gunter of Augusta, GA.
Four grandsons: Drew (Carol) Davis, Doug (Kerry) Davis, Wade (Angie) Youngblood and Lyn (Jennifer) Youngblood.

The family extends a special thank you to Tender Care nursing and administrative staff, Annie McMillan, Stella Mabry and Cynthia Shaw.

Graveside services were held on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at 11:00am at Douglas City Cemetery with Grandson, Doug Davis officiating.

Due to the Coronavirus, attendees are asked to comply with the current guidelines and restrictions concerning containment of the Coronavirus, including social distancing of six feet of separation.

Sims Funeral Home, Douglas, GA was in charge of arrangements.
